DTD at MC #67

Hello everyone,
I hope that you all had a great weekend, and are enjoying your summer.
For me, moving home to Marietta has been just great. 2 weeks ago, I got to attend the Riverfront Roar, the powerboat races that Marietta has every summer. This year it was the world championship for Div. 2 and 3. Pretty exciting.

During the weekend, I got together with Matt Dole, Matt Joy (and his 4 year old son - a future Delt for sure!), Brian Wolf, and Trevor Brown. Trevor gave me a well deserved hard time for not having him included in the list of attendees for the 40th. It's been taken care of Trevor. See you in October.

Matt Joy said that he would be around for part of the festivities at least, he wasn't sure how much time he could spend with us though. Matt Dole told me that Brian would be there also. Brian, please let me know if you will be participating in the whole weekend and if you will be bringing anyone with you. That way I can add you to the list of attendees.

For those who need the address and info on where to send your money, the cost is $50.00 per person. Send your check, payable to "Crescent Colony of Marietta, Inc." to Bob Ferguson, **removed for privacy reasons** I'll post our schedule of events at the end of this email, as well as the attendees. Please get in touch if you are coming and don't see your name.

Eric Gustafson '97 sent me a note letting me know he is planning on coming. And Casey Trail says he is bringing his girlfriend.

A few emails ago, I sent a picture from the Initiation Banquet out because Dave Broome needed to know the names of the people in it. Ken Kavula said that he would try to identify everyone for us. So far he has sent this message:

Got it this time - and am amused to see the back of my head and my hand as
I direct the new Delts in their first official rendition of Delta Shelter! I'll work on the other names in the next few days and get back to you.

Hope you haven't forgotten me Ken. Time is beginning to be a factor for Dave to get the booklet put together. Hard as it is to believe, we are only 4 months away!

Scott Frasca sent me the following note, I'm sorry to hear that you won't be able to make it to the 40th. I hope that you enjoy your move to Maine. Will you be anywhere near Bangor? That's where Mark Russell lives. Make note of his new address.

HI Rick! You are doing a great job keeping us all in touch!
Unfortunately a move to ME and the construction of our new house is going to
keep me from joining all our Brothers in Marietta for the celebration. Please note my new email address: **removed**. Will be issued a new one late this year when we get moved into the new house ... living in temporary quarters for now!

Thanks! Scott

VERY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ!!!
I recently received the following email from the college. As you all are aware, our Shelter is in need of being replaced. The college is planning on building a new residence hall (which is sorely needed) and is thinking of putting the Delts and LCA's in part of the new building. There will be a conference call next week that will include Hartsy, Fergie, Andy Longo (from the Central Office), me and the college to discuss this. Please read the following email, and if you have any comments that you would like to be included in our discussion, let one of us know. If you don't let us know what your feelings are, we will not be able to let the college know what you think. Thank you. Here are the other 2 email addresses: Hartsy **removed** and Fergie **removed**

Hey guys!
I have some (potential) exciting news to share with you!

Recently theCollege has decided to move forward with plans for building a new residence hall which will be located on the corner of Putnam and 7th street (beside McCoy in the current parking area). Eventually, this hall will replace Parsons, which we all know is in poor condition. That said, we also know that the current housing situations for our three fraternities are not the best for any chapter due to issues with facility size and condition. What we have now is the perfect opportunity for all three chapters to have brand new housing in the new residence hall.

Before you get too excited, let me explain a few things. First of all, this is not set in stone. However, if it happens, it would work something like this...each fraternity would have their own floor in the hall. As with your current housing situation, you would be allowed to decorate/paint, etc. with approval from Residence Life. The structural design has not been completed, but we would make sure you have adequate space for chapter meetings and secured storage space for ritual equipment, etc.

You would also have enough bed spaces that would be neither to large or too small (probably closest to the Delt's housingcapacity). We would want to make sure that you feel that this is your space and home. What I need from you now is suggestions for what kinds of elements you would like to see (i.e. as I mentioned before, secured storage for ritual equipment) in your potential living environment. I wouldappreciate any feedback ASAP as we are moving forward with this quickly. If you need to, please solicit ideas from other members. I hope you will see this as an exciting time for Fraternity Life at Marietta.

YOU have the opportunity to create a new living space for your fraternity that will meet the needs of the organization. I will keep you updated as I learn more. Thanks so much guys!
Take care!~Lynne =)

That's all I have for this time, there wasn't much news from brothers. But I thought that it was pretty important that you be informed about what the college is thinking, concerning housing for the undergrads. Please get back with me as soon as you can, so we can share your input with the college. Rick Neel '73
